Treatment.
Treatment
It is very important I include all of the requirements so my client can see a clear plan of everything that is needed and they are aware I have fully planned every element of the production. This will also show I have clearly considered codes of practice and regulation and am aware if any issues and if they arise how I can solve them.
I have written a structure as it is very important for my client to understand I have clearly planned every detail. It is also important for me to detail the budge so my client is aware that that i am sticking to the budget and what elements of production will cost what. This will also show my client I can stick to the given budget and will give myself more of a chance to work with my client again in the future.

Final idea for music video (spider diagram)

This is my final developed idea for my music video, the two other ideas i had prior to this were:
1. To be performed as if it is a live gig.
2. the second idea is two use a narrative of a group of people building a bod throughout the song.

My choice of song and video ideas.
I have chosen the song 'We Ain't Ever Done' by The King Blues. The three ideas i have come up with for my music video are:
1. A story line mixed with visual representation of the lyrics and fast cutting
2. the second idea is to perform the song like it is a gig in a hall in front of lots of people
3. the third idea is also a story line of a group of people coming together and building a bond over a journey

Evaluation of Taylor' video.
Taylor worked in a group with myself and George on the 'Lip syncing task' in which we used the song 'Friday' by Rebecca Black. I think Taylor did an excellent job of editing the video. WWW: 1) I like the fact that he edited in the 'MTV' symbol to the top of the video to make it look professional and give the audience feel that they are watching the video on MTV. 2) I like the use of effects he added to the video they made it more interesting to watch and the slide transitions much smoother. EBI: 1) He spent a little more time on syncing the music and the video as in some parts the lip syncing is slightly out. 2) I think he could have selected some of the clips better as in some not everybody was concentrated on the task at hand.

Buzz:
WWW: I think the colours blended well together and really represent the clubbing culture. I also like my choice of font 'throw my hands up in the air' as its very versatile and will work for each radio station.
EBI: To have improved my logo I think i should have edited the background colour around the letters rather then having a big block of colour. I also think if I was to make the letters bolder it would look more appealing and stand out.
Mixx:
WWW: I like the spacing of the letters, by putting them close together it looks as though the letters are 'mixing' therefore linking with the name. I also like the the choice of background as the bubbles look as if they are 'mixing' therefore linking with the name again.
EBI: I feel this logo would look better if I was to edit the background around the lettering, also if I made the lettering a black border i could have filled the milled of the letters with a different colour, linking with the fun and funky side of the station.
Lock:
WWW: The use of the pad lock replacing the 'O' is what i thought went well as it link to the name of the station. I also like the fact that its quite a simple and clear logo.
EBI: I think this would look good with a coloured background as it would link with the other two stations. Another EBI would be if I could have got a picture of a lock with a key hole, I think it would be more effective.

Screen grabs - Lock.

I entered 'LOCK' into photoshop and played around with the sizing I thought black would be the best colour as it links with the colour of the other two stations, also it doesn't target a specific gender. I then found the image of a pad lock that I wanted to use to replace the O in the word, once I founded the perfect pad lock in the right colour I added it into another layer then edited it into the words, after I was finished doing this I added in the music note to link it with the other two stations.
Screen grabs - Mixx

Once I had the font I typed out 'MIXX' I played around and altered the spacing of the letters. After I had selected the spacing between the letters I thought fit best, I started searching for a background I thought would appeal to my target audience, I selected a colourful background linking with the kind of colours people would expect to be flashing in a club. I added in the background then cropped it to the right size after this I switched around the layers so the lettering was on top of the background. Then i added the music note linking with the other station logos.
Screen grabs - Buzz.

After I had downloaded my font I typed out 'BUZZ' into photoshop then altered it to the size I wanted. I kept the letters black as I thought that would be the best colour to go with the background, also black is quite a universal colour so it doesn't target a specific gender. I then searched for the right background I wanted, which had to included the orange and green, once i had founded it, I cropped it so it was the section I wanted. I added the background to my letters then put it on a layer underneath. Whilst I was creating the logos I decided I needed something more than just the font linking the stations, so I decided to include a musical note, which relates to what the logos represent and also brings them all together.

Annotating logo designs.
I annotated each design discussing: what age group it would be sutiable for and why, what type of music the station would play, where this type of music would be played.
MIXX: mixx gives me the idea of; drinks/ cocktails, bubbles, parties, people having fun/ a good time. Mixx reminds me of a very main stream type station something played at social events- it does also give of a slightly more female vibe to me. competitors: capital, kiss, radio 1. Type of music played: JESSIE J, RIHANNA, KERI HILSON, KANYE WEST, DAVID GUETTA, NICKI MINAJ FLO RIDER, LADY GAGA, ADELE and others.
PULSE: pulse instantly gave me the idea to have a pulse running through the letters representing the meaning of the words, I think this station would be targeted at people 45 + as the name is ironic as the age group is older but they are still lively and enjoying going out, having fun. The type of music i think played would be old classics. competitors: heart, magic, absolute 80's + 90's. Type of music played: RICKY MARTIN, ROBBIE WILLIAMS, SHANIA TWAIN, DON HENLEY, ABC, BEASTIE BOYS, KATE BUSH, BON JOVI, U2, R.E.M and others.
SHRED: shred gave me the idea of things that are private like and underground rave or a "secret" concert. So I thought of incorporating a secret kind of element into the design. The age group I think the station would be aimed at would be young adults (18+) - mid 20's / early 30's. The type of people that like planning their evenings last minute and staying out all night having a good time. The type of music lock would play like drum & bass, dubstep and club remixs. The competitors: ukbassradio, dnbradio, BBC 1 xtra, dubstep.fm. The type of music played: CHASE AND STATUS, NETSKY, STAN SB, SUB FOCUS, PENDULUM, SKREAM, BENGA, RUSKO.
VIP: the logo I drew up for VIP was more female oriented, as I decided it would be best for teenage girls, roughly between 13 to 17. Girls that enjoy discos and parties but they also enjoy just chilling with their friends. I thought it was very female focused as I decided the letters would look good with a pink glow around the edge fading out, I also decided to place a small crown above the I replacing the tittle. The competitors: kiss, capital, radio 1. The type of music played: RIHANNA , JLS, THE WANTED, THE SATURDAYS, FLO RIDER.
LOCK: I think lock would be targeted at mainly men aged between 35 to 40 +. The name seems quite brutal so the music I associated with the channel was old classic rock and metal. My design for the logo was to rub out part of the letters as if the had been sliced and possibly including a padlock. The competitors: planet rock, total rock, hard radio. The type of music played: KISS, DEF LEPPARD, ROLLING STONES, GUNS N ROSES, QUEEN, PINK FLOYD.
BUZZ: buzz is an energetic word so it made me think of a lively station that plays clubbing/ drum & bass music, its the type of station with no adverts late at night just pure music. I think it would be best aimed at young adults that enjoy raving / clubbing, aged between 18 -25. Buzz made me think of clubbing/ raving which made me think of bright lights therefore i decided to i wanted orange and green shinning on to the letters. The competitors: nu-rave, partyvibe, 1club.fm, late night kiss. The type of music played: TURE TIGER, PENDULUM, PRODIGY REMIXS, CHASE AND STATUS.
Logo designs.
These are the first rough designs I created for the stations, I made designs for each station then selected the three I wanted to work on theses are Buzz, Mixx and Lock. I drew my selected three again making slight alterations, I made sure the font i used was the same for each logo, I used http://www.dafont.com/ to select the right font for my logos. Using the same font represents that they are all part of the same family but the different use of background, colour etc shows variety in each station.

Filming our ident.
We decided we would film our ident in the common room as that was where the freezer was located, because we were focusing the ident around ice cubes we didn't really need a set, we had difficulties filming with the ice as it took longer than expected to freeze so we were slightly off track. For various reasons we were unable to get footage of people at a club so we had to create our own interpretation. We decided this would be most easily done with filming our class close together with the lights turning on and off we found this footage was adequate for our ident. We had some difficulty with filming but we managed to overcome this by using initiative and making do with the resources we had.
Uploading our work.
We had to upload all of our footage into the new verision of IMovie maker, then transfer it to the older version so we were able to edit it. Now that is finished we can begin to edit our work.
Editing the ident.
Once we had filmed everything we needed we uploaded our footage into I-Movie ID, we then began to sort our clips into the correct order. During this process we cam across some obstacles in completing our ident as we didn't have the ideal footage we had hoped for so we had to improvise, so because what we had originally planed to do hadn't worked we took screen shots of the ice cubes (like the picture) and added them into the film instead. Once we had a structure to our ident we had to cut the clips to get rid of what wasn't necessary, then worked on the transactions from clip to clip adding in the ones we thought were best for our ident. As a group we discussed what effects we wanted to add in we tried out the various effects to see what looked best and once we had decided this we add the selected effects to our ident. One of the effects we used was 'N square' to split the screen into four sections, we decided to use this effect because of difficulties in our group we weren't able to get footage from a club so we had to improvise and film in the classroom and i suggested if we were to use 'N square' the fact that it was filmed in a classroom would be less visible. After we had edited the footage we selected the music we wanted and using the timeline synced the music with the parts of the ident we wanted it to play during.
Exporting our final ident.
Once we had finished editing our ident it was ready to be exported, this meant we could add our on screen graphics to our film in Final Cut. The steps we followed to export our work were as follows: we first saved it as expert settings, we the uploaded it to youtube and from this we were able to upload it to our blog.
ident three (kitchen) props & set.

This picture shows the 6th form common room in Glenthorne High school in which would film this ident as there is a kitchen which is exactly what we need for filming this ident. The other picture is of the ice cube trays we will use to create our props.
Ident three (kitchen) on screen graphics.
The graphics for ident three were also part of what my fellow student agreed to work on. If I was to edit these graphics I would target the graphics to the specific ident it was to follow. The graphics i think would best fit this ident would be if we were to place the letters 'THE GRID' made from ice cubes into a frying pan and record them melting, then to whilst editing the graphics I would speed up the footage. So I would be replacing actual graphics with footage.
Ident two (pacman) on screen graphics.

Ident one (party) on screen graphics.

This is the on screen graphics we created for the party ident, I created the graphics by using Livetype which opened up a lot of opportunities for me with the variety of fonts I was able to use. What I was originally planning to do would have been to create the graphics by spelling 'THE GRID' out of ice cubes, I would have been limited to just using ice cubes which would have been a lot more difficult for me to do rather than using Livetype.
This is an example of an ice cube we froze for the ident as you can see it presents a problem by the amount of time it takes to freeze and also how quickly it unfreezes is an issue when we were trying to assemble the ice cubes ready to film.
In my final ident the words bounce in
and then slide down the screen, I thought that the graphics sliding down the screen linked in with the idea of melting ice cubes. I also decided that making the graphics blue and in a melted font would link in with the idea of ice cubes.
ident three (kitchen) sound/ music.
This ident will only use one piece of music which we will most likely download from www.freeplaymusic.com we will selected a song thats quite light, relaxed, chilled and universal to all. The music will just play on a low level throughout the ident helping to set the scene. The other sound used will be a continuity announcer toward the end of the ident.
Ident two (pacman) sound/ music.
For the start of the ident we decided to use pacman sound effects as pacman is the main focus of the ident, then at shot 7 this will change and a 'wild wild west' theme tune and will be played whilst the brain and pacman begin to have there stand off. At shot 9 the sound then changes back to the pacman noises to symbolise pacman making the first move. Last but not least at shot 10 the Darth Vader section of the Star Was theme tune will play during a close up of the pacman. Also a continuity announcer will be used.

Ident one (party) sound/ music
For our ident we selected two pieces of contrasting music from www.freeplaymusic.com. We choose one quite up-beat 'party' song to fit the with the lively clips of people dancing. We then choose a slower 'relaxed' song for the shots of the ice cubes, as these are more chilled clips. Then toward the end of the ident a continuity announcer will be used.

ident two (pacman) props + set.

These pictures show the location and props, two show the 6th form common room at Glenthorne high school in which we set up a sheet to use as the background for our pac man chase scene. The other picture is of the ice cube trays we will use to create our props.
ident three (kitchen) costume/ make-up
Costume/ make-up is not necessary for this ident as it is all based around ice cubes, therefore does not require any actors.
ident two (pacman) costume/ make-up

Our best idea
The novelty ice cube idea was our best idea as it fits 'chilled' theme of the channel, also the variety of ice cube trays we bought fit with the channel/ programs. The type of ice trays we bought are: Guitars, alphabet letters, Brains, chill pill's, cupcakes, pac man, teeth and penguin's. Our idea is to have a long shot of a table with a party style table cloth on it surrounded by classic items found at a party, these items will be: a party popper, confetti/ glitter, a sausage roll, glow sticks, napkins and balloons. In the middle of all that carnage will be a glass of clear water, inside it will be a ice cube chill pill coloured with blue food dye, there will also be a straw in the cup. The first shot will be a long shot slowly zooming into the cup, the it will cut to a clip which has been externally filmed of people in a club dancing we haven't decided on the type of shot yet. It will then cut back to a shot of the glass but this time it will be a close- up birds eye view circling around the top of the glass, then like before it will cut back to the exteremly flimed club shot but it will be a different type of shot, which we have not decided yet. The last shot of the cup will be a long shot of the side of the glass panning around it, then we will cut to our last externally filmed club shot from another angle we have not decided on yet. During the club shot the footage will be in slow motion and the music over the top will be slow dub, the music for the shots of the cup will also be the same as the club scenes. Our next shot is then a mid- shot of a glass on a table covered in a plain table cloth surrounded by nothing, the water in the glass will be blue with food dye, inside will be a guitar shaped ice cube. Someone will be stirring the guitar in the glass then the music of a chat show will be playing. In this shot there is no camera movement. The shot after this is again a mid- shot of a plain table cloth with a glass full of re food dye slightly off centre, inside will the teeth shaped ice cube, the shot will be off the teeth being dropped in whilst the introduction of a chat show is playing over the top, this shot includes no camera movement. The last shot will be a mid- shot birds eye view, we haven't completely decided on the scenery for it but it will have the letter 'THE GRID' in alternate colours of red and blue, scattered around this will be all the novelty ice cubes in either blue or red. Over the top of this last shot we think we may have a continuity- announcer saying something along the line of ' your watching the grid'.

The Grid spider diagram and props

1) How did we work as a team: We sat down and had a brain storm together as a result of this came up with the spider diagram full of various ideas for the idents. We then developed one specific idea very well and kept bouncing off one another with more and more great ideas. To find suitable colours for our channel we did some market research, by using a tally chart to discover the most popular two colours for male & females aged 18 - 30, the most popular colour idea was blue and red.
2) How creative are our ideas? We created a board range of different ideas for our ident, the ranged from people telling jokes to novelty shaped ice cubes. We developed the idea of novelty shaped ice cubes because we decided that when we first thought about the channel the word to describe it that sprung to mind was 'chilled' due to the type of programs shown we thought they would appeal to a 'relaxed' audience, this has a clear link with the ice cubes and there was a lot of unique ideas we thought could be pulled from it.
3) How will we realistically create them- what specifically will you need to organise?
For locations we need to use our media from JO3, as we will be using glow sticks in the ident and we can make this room very dark by turning off the lights and pulling down the blinds.
The only other location we will need to use is a club, this will be filmed externally by a member of our group who can gain access to it.
The main props we will be using are the novelty ice trays which we split between the group and all purchased different ones, together we have: Cupcake, penguin, teeth, pac man, alphabet letters, guitar, brain & chill pill shaped ice trays.
We also need: A table cloth, a glass, some glitter, glow sticks, a straw, a sausage roll (some kind of party food) & food dye.
Costume won't be an issue for us as we don't really use people in our ident, expect the people filmed externally in the club which will have no specific dress code.
